RESTAURANT JAN
Restaurant JAN, an intimate 20-seater restaurant in Nice’s Vieux Port area, is a source of great pride to many South Africans, as this is where Jan Hendrik became one of his home country’s first Michelin-star chefs. Today, JAN continues to enchant locals and visitors alike with its innovative fusion of classic, honest South African flair elevated to haute cuisine status.
Internships at Restaurant JAN are offered for between three and six months and include return flights to Nice, shared accommodation, a student salary, a staff meal at the restaurant with every service, and a service uniform (chefs).
Passport costs (if applicable), visa costs, travel insurance and daily living costs for the applicants’ account.
RESTAURANT KLEIN JAN
Klein JAN, meaning “Little Jan”, was an affectionate nickname bestowed on Jan Hendrik by his grandmother. It’s fitting, then, that the chef would pass this name on to his most personal culinary project to date. Situated at Tswalu Kalahari, one of South Africa’s most exclusive private game reserves, Klein JAN celebrates the Kalahari’s unique culinary offering and elevates it to world-class status.
Internships at Klein JAN are offered for a duration of between three and twelve months and include, return flights to Tswalu from Cape Town or Johannesburg, shared accommodation, student salary, staff meal at the restaurant with every service, service uniform, staff transport on the reserve and return flights to Cape Town or Johannesburg during cycle leave.

JAN FRANSCHHOEK
This unique pop-up concept, and collaboration with La Motte Wine Estate, celebrates Jan Hendrik’s love of South African cuisine with a limited-time-only seasonal experience in the picturesque Cape Winelands.
Internships at JAN Franschhoek are offered for a duration of between one and eight months and include student salary and staff meal at the restaurant with every service.
Own accommodation and transport are necessary.
JAN GROUP ROTATION
During rotational internships, students can spend three months at each JAN Restaurant consecutively.
